Emergency pricing reflects the after-hours response, the extra rigging it takes to work a tree that's already under load, and the risk to the crew — it runs up to $5,000, depending on complexity. Before You Start
Whether a removal needs a permit depends on which side of a city line you're on. Inside the City of Marietta, a homeowner on a typical single-family lot usually doesn't need one; Smyrna requires a permit for any healthy tree 24 inches or bigger, Kennesaw wants a $25 permit before any cutting, and Woodstock permits everything over 3 inches. Should You DIY?
